You've Studied Hard and Now You're Ready. So Who Are You Going To Let Handle Your Exam Session?
The Elmira Corning VE Team is comprised of a group of VE examiners who are:
FRIENDLY AND PROFESSIONAL
Your test session is important to you. You don’t need any more stress and surely you want everything to go as right as possible. We know you’ve invested a great amount of time studying and the test before you is a serious challenge. We felt the same way when we took our FCC exams and we understand, first hand, how important this hobby is to you. We promise to do our best to provide a test service that is friendly, comfortable, and as stress free as possible. One way we keep that promise is with a monthly schedule and a willingness to provide assistance wherever possible.
Morse code is no longer a requirement for HF operation and the 5 word-per-minute exam is not necessary for General and Extra class licenses!
EXPERIENCED
Our Volunteer Exam team is made up of people just like you. We are a diverse group with a common love for the Ham Radio hobby and we sincerely welcome anyone who has the interest and the ambition to take the FCC examination. Some of us have been enjoying radio communications for more than forty years and our test administration experience spans over a decade. We’re the oldest, continuous operation VE team in the twin tiers!
The FCC defines the requirements for Amateur Radio licensing and watches the Volunteer Examination process very closely. This team takes that responsibility very seriously and we pride ourselves on the care that we take in maintaining the integrity of our test sessions. We’re here to serve and to help you get that license and to ensure that all efforts meet or exceed the expectations of the FCC and the ARRL.
KNOWLEDGEABLE
One of the things that we have earned a reputation for is our willingness to help. While we can’t give you the answers, we can make you feel comfortable, and that starts the day you first contact us. You’ll find that there are no hassles or superior attitudes to contend with. Just new friends that look forward to meeting you and are willing to provide an honest and efficient testing service. We’re always available for your questions; before, during, and after your test session. The FCC rule book and the ARRL manuals are always close at hand and on those occasions when we can’t pinpoint the answer quickly, our friends at the ARRL are only a quick phone call away. All of our team members are ARRL certified Volunteer Examiners.
EFFICIENT
We've brought new procedures to our test sessions so that you don't have to wait most of the morning. One test or fifty we don't stop until the paper work is finished.
ACCURATE
After each Saturday test session, everything is double-checked. That same evening, all paperwork is digitally scanned, double-checked again, and our database updated with all pertinent information. By 9:00am, Monday morning your test data is on its way to the ARRL staff via express mail. They in turn, have been able to electronically file with the FCC within just a couple of days. Over the past year we have seen posting of your new license by Friday. Most of the time, it takes ONLY A WEEK
to receive your new license.
As the car rental agency says, "We try harder so you don't have to!"

There is an FCC/ARRL mandated non-refundable $15.00 testing fee for each testing session which, according to the ARRL, is an attempted test and any subsequent tests providing the candidate successfully passed the previous testing element. In other words, if you pass Element 2, then you can test Element 3 at no charge. If you pass Element 3, then you get a free shot at Element 4! Fail any of the elements, and there will be a charge of $15.00 to retake that test element.
Correct change is appreciated.
